(Okay - third time's a charm)
By popular demand . . . BEACH pictures! This is what the beach looked like when we arrived on Saturday. This is the view off our deck - left, center, right. As you can see, Saturday was a picture-perfect day. It was very warm, very windy and bright and beautiful.
We arrived in Surf City about 2:00 on Saturday, but couldn't check in until 3:00. As expected, the rental was not ready early. It was after 3:00 when we picked up the keys and headed out to N. Topsail to the condo. It is at least a 20 minute drive - only to find out we were given the wrong keys and we couldn't get in. One of us was not particularly happy about that, as you can imagine. To make a long story short, someone from the realtor's office met us halfway and exchanged keys with us. We finally got in about 4:30. Fortunately, the view makes up for the frustration!
The condo is very small, but perfect for two of us. The living area/kitchen combined is about 12 x 15, but overlooks the ocean. We have a deck with 5, count 'em 5, chairs and 3 tables - a little excessive for a place this tiny. We only use 2 chairs and a table. Adequate for our needs.
There aren't any restaurants close by - we are at the very end of the island. As a matter of fact, when I walk in the morning I go around the point to the New River Inlet - where the island ends. And, you can see the next island just across the channel - very close. The ground is covered in oyster shells over there. Very pretty, calm and quiet.
On the walk toward the inlet, there are several houses damanged by last summer's hurricanes. They are still standing, but don't have any stairs to get inside. Very sad sight.
Well, that's enough for tonight. I hope this posts. I have already tried twice, but I'm just sure it is going to work this time. Wish me luck! More later!

The surf is pretty and looks very blustery. I'll bet you get a nice breeze off the ocean. I'll bet I can guess who was the disgruntled half of your pair:)
Very nice. I am living vicariously through you right now.
Oooo! Beach! :)
